Elaina: I just discovered this band recently and have been trying to catch a show ever since. Their sound reminds me of a cross between Cherry Glazzer and Mitski without so much rocking. They play often at the Hideout, which is an old bar that feels kind of like someone’s basement, damp humidity included, and I can’t wait to see them there.
5songpjct: They kind of remind me of Mazzy Star/Hope Sandoval and Anika. I also like that her affectation can also make it sound like “I let me be adored”
How do you discover new music?
Elaina: Like a good millenial, I found this band on Instagram, but I would say I mostly discover new music through friends and social media. I also am a fan of (and I don’t do this often enough) researching cheap shows of unfamiliar bands and trying them out, or arriving for openers and discovering some new favorite music.
5songpjct: Did Sucker (the title of the debut album) come out?
Elaina: Not really, their music is on their website like bandcamp. I know Jessica, the singer, had a personal tragedy before the album was supposed to come out.
