Elaina: Say what you will about Kanye West, but this song is a jam. I love the idea of Chicago personified as “Windy,” a tough yet nurturing motherly figure, and how even an upbeat, catchy song of Kanye’s gets a little into his feelings about leaving Chicago and the other local rappers who didn’t make it (as) big behind. This song is perfect for driving south down Lake Shore Drive in the summer at night.
5songpjct: I did notice Common did a cameo in his video, I wonder why it was just a visual cameo. I am not the biggest Kanye fan, especially right now. (Kanye gets it, he gots it. And the many controversial comments he has made) I do however want to pick that big music brain he has. He digs deep to find samples that work.
