“Whizz Kid” by Mott the Hoople
Marty E: I’ll never forget when my brother, Dave, brought this Mott the Hoople album, MOTT, home for me. I was wearing a weird pair of sunglasses, which is probably why he pointed at Ian Hunter on the cover and said, “That’s MOTT right there, and you look JUST like him! Hahahahahaha.”
I liked this song for the simple reason that the second line in the song is, “She came out flash, MONSTER mash, Motors in her feet…” What kid isn’t going to get attached to a song with lyrics like that?
It wasn’t until I was much older and reacquainted myself with this song that I realized that the song was about a Rock n’ Roll chick in New York City who parties WAY too much for her (everyone else’s) own good. But that’s another story.
