“Tell Me” by Groove Theory
I chose this song because it has an incredible, enduring, immediately recognizable beat. It puts the listener into the physical feeling that the lyrics create. You’re in the club, you’re in the groove, and you just want to know that the person you’re feeling and vibing with feels the same way about you. Reciprocity, understanding, and connection–that’s the real desire of the heart. The song is fun and catchy and lighthearted but it’s also serious and moody and bluesy and has all this depth. It’s sexy and smoky but the beautiful voice of the woefully underrated Amel Larrieux just sweeps in and carries you. I don’t want to just feel that someone loves me, I want to KNOW. I want them to TELL ME.
