Song 19: Magicalness versus seriousness

Clocks” by Coldplay

5songpjct: This was such a huge song in 2002, where were you and what were you doing  in the early aughts?

Vanessa: This song reminds me of the summer that I lived in Washington D.C. When I hear that song now I picture myself on the bus on my way to my temp job. I just remember listening to this song, there was something so magical about the melody. So the combination of listening to this song and seeing the sites of Washington D.C. was a bit odd. You would see people in these black and navy suits, pantyhose, all these different things and then listening to this magical song. It was interesting seeing these two things together.

It was a year after 9/11. Although I was excited to be in D.C. and happy in where I was in life, it was an eerie time to be there. I remember every time I would hear a sirens from an ambulance or police cars I would get chills.

I also remember taking my lunch break at the park across from the White House and while I was eating my lunch, I would sit on this rock and play find the sniper on the roof.

OUR last song with Vanessa tomorrow
