Assignment 9: They just never get old

Name: Christine Petrich

Place: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Your relationship to music: listener, dancer, and musician, in that order

Industry: College Instructor, Health and PE

I met Christine when I was in high school. We were both in a modern dance class at the performing arts center in my hometown. I don’t think there is any one person who had more of an influence in my music taste in my early years of high school than she did. She has gone on to use movement as a way of healing for her community. She also does silks which is both beautiful and hard as hell.

5songpjct: Sometimes you refer to yourself as a gym teacher, what does that mean?

Christine: I teach physical education classes, although not like the way I was taught. I teach classes like yoga and fitness classes, along with health courses like Stress Management. I have a great gig, I get to move and meditate for my job!

5songpjct: What is your theme for this week?

Christine: I chose songs that I never tire of hearing! I realized there were a lot of songs I like, but either I’ve heard too many times or are specific to a mood, but these are songs I will never skip or change the channel for when they come on!
